It is a multifunctional white pigment. It has high thermal conductivity, low Mohs hardness, and a refractive index of 2.37. It is the non-toxic white pigment closest to titanium dioxide. It has good dispersibility, is not corroded within the pH range of 4-12, and is insoluble in water and solvents. Engineering Plastic Zinc Sulfide presents a white color with a slight tendency to blue hue. This unique color property makes it have a whitening effect when used as a pigment.

Refractive index 2.37:

The refractive index is an important parameter of optical materials. The refractive index of zinc sulfide is 2.37, which is at a relatively high level.

Low hardness, Mohs hardness 3.0:

Mohs hardness is 3.0, which is a relatively low hardness level. This makes zinc sulfide less wear on processing equipment during processing, and can be used as an inorganic lubricant for friction materials; when used in glass fiber reinforced plastics, it will not damage the reinforcing glass fiber like pigments with higher Mohs hardness (such as titanium dioxide, Mohs hardness 5.5-6.0), which can ensure the tensile strength and impact strength of the finished product, and also prevent the elastomeric plastic from becoming brittle.
